Santa Monica is a remarkable place to live, but it is a challenging place to store fine art at home. The proximity to the Pacific means salt air, elevated ambient humidity, and seasonal temperature swings that most residential HVAC systems are not designed to fully compensate for. A painting that would sit happily for decades in a stable interior environment can develop trouble much faster when humidity climbs and falls each morning and evening.
Our downtown Los Angeles vault was built for fine art and nothing else. Every storage room holds 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 50 percent relative humidity year round, so work that came from a damp coastal house stops cycling with the marine layer. Access is restricted, cameras record around the clock, and only key-carded staff get inside.
Santa Monica clients never have to drive a painting downtown. A two-person crew collects from your home, wraps every piece in archival materials before it meets the salt air outside, and drives it to the vault in a climate-controlled truck, where it is photographed and condition-reported on arrival. When you want a piece back for the summer or a dinner party, tell us the date and it comes home.
